Not too far from home and a real treat. I love the calming atmosphere of this restaurant. You could quite easily walk passed it, situated on the corner of Portland Road and downstairs inspite of being along the main thoroughfare of Holland Park Avenue. As you descend you are immediately greeted by an open kitchen and then to the Scandinavian minimalist interior. Every iota of this restaurant has been considered in detail and is balanced, refreshing and calm, in a non try hard way. Which is echoed in the Japanese meets modern Scandinavian cuisine. Even the plates I love by designer Faye Toogood.
Dive straight into the tasting menu and the charming staff and sommelier are on hand to make good recommendations for wine. Raw fish infused with aromas is the speciality here. The beautiful balance of colours on the plates and the delicacy of the deliverance are in keeping with each mouthful, rather than trying to be fashionable and over inventive.
For me this is an evening not lunchtime place, soft lighting, gentle acoustics makes it a place to unwind and enjoy good food in contented company, where you escape for a moment from a fast paced London and not a chance of seeing a mobile phone on a table.
